I really like that one random panel where Ken talks just to go "wtf man?!". Like that was so unnecessary it's hilarious.

You'd think at some point the villagers would start complaining about the two dogs who keep getting into fights in the streets, but apparently not.

Also I still find it a bit funny that Yoshi gave everyone in the story (including dogs) a pseudonym, but Otto's last name is still Takahashi. And his full first name being Otohiro makes it even less subtle.

I hope Roku kicks Ken's ass eventually. But that's not going to happen, anyway.

...Yeah, just as I figured. Otto is really gonna deal with a jerk at school who is most likely going to bully him for no reason other than for fun in a selfish and cruel way. I hope Otto gets the best of the bully somehow.

I'm finding this pretty interesting so far. I like the semi-autobiographical nature of the manga, getting to see into another time and place. Yoshi/Otto's father is such an abusive piece of trash. I'm wondering if he's raising the chicks for cock fights or for meat? Also, seeing Ken's thoughts, I'm curious if it's a one-off or if the dogs are going to start talking at all.

Wow, this chapter just got even better. Otto is a really brave and tough kid for standing up to that bully. I wonder if he learned those moves from watching wrestling or something. It can't be just inspiration from the rivalry between Roku and Ken. Now that Otto sees money, he might start his road to become richer. Or he might just use it for food. I don't know.

And reading this entire chapter really reminds me of my elementary and middle school days.

At least the vice principal is wholesome, even if the "your father must be such a good person" thing was some weapons-grade oof. It's not like he could know any better but I can 100% understand Otto's reaction there.

And...fuckity fuck, here comes the shitty asshole that is Otto's father.

Asshole father: "You stole that money, didn't you? You thief! I'm gonna commit attempted murder on you!" *grabs a knife*

...I am ABSOLUTELY disgusted to see that painful moment! Even if the asshole father says that it's not good to take something that isn't yours (like money that is found on the ground, of course), threatening your own innocent and defenseless child with a knife is ABSOLUTELY never okay!

Asshole father: "Finding something on the ground is no better than stealing!"

And threatening your own child with a knife is no better than your child finding something on the ground! You know, if I had a father like that who just threatened me with a knife, I'd report it to the police! That's exactly what Otto should do at this point! He should not be taking his father's bullshit, anymore! This fucked-up piece of shit should be rotting in prison for the rest of his life and then rot in hell!

With that section out of the way, I love Otto's interaction with this vice principal. He really sounds like a nice guy. I bet he would be a much better father to Otto than the asshole father.

Vice Principal after seeing Otto return with the money: "Your father sounds strict..."

If only you know how strict Otto's asshole father is.

Haha this chapter reminds me of someone I used to work with. His daughter found 20p, (an amount of money of no consequence whatsoever in comparison to this story) on a bus seat on a school trip. He didn't get mad, but told her to give it to the bus driver and not to take it.

I suppose it's a good lesson to teach but jesus a knife, really. I get idle threats to scare children into doing what you want was normal back then but a knife, wow.

I like how Otto's biggest concern about his dog constantly getting into fights with another dog is whether or not his dog can win...

I genuinely like how Otto keeps introducing minor characters as relatives of his family. I realize it's probably realistic for a small rural village but I just think it's kinda funny.

The little Holstein calf is adorable, even if Otto's nickname for him is... that. Also before anyone asks, yes bull testicles are really eaten as food.

I'm genuinely not sure why Otto's father just left the bull nuts in the river to "rinse" if he was just trolling Otto about eating them and I can't help but feel like I'm missing something. So in case you're confused about that, I apologize but I don't want to have "why would you leave bull testicles soaking in water for days on end" in my search history.

Also who wants to bet Otto's dad would be losing his shit if Otto brought a failed test home, because clearly there's just no winning with this man.

Um, excuse me...what...the f***ing f**k, you actual piece of motherf***ing shit?! Like Digsu mentioned, what would have happened if Otto showed you a failed test instead? Would you react differently and lose your shit about that instead? Like this?!

Otto: "I'm sorry, Dad. I failed on the test."
Asshole father: "YOU ROTTEN PIECE OF SHIT! YOU SHOULD HAVE STUDIED HARDER AND DONE BETTER!" *starts beating Otto*

Yeah, Digsu really made a good point about that. The father really just doesn't care about a damn thing. There's really no winning this man's heart, which would make sense if he even had a heart.

I hope Otto's dream of punching his father numerous times becomes a reality because holy shit, I would love to see him do it and be happy when his evil father eventually dies.

Oh wow, we also get to see Roku speaking with his thoughts as he comforts Otto. Seeing them sleeping together while the mother tucks then in is one of the few sweet moments of this story when Otto's father isn't there to ruin them.

Otto lost his report card? Somehow I get the feeling that his father has something to do with it.

Honestly the dog and kid abuse/irresponsibility in this manga is so infuriating if it wasn't for the fact that I typeset it I would stop reading this. >___>
I really hope Yoshi is trying to make it interesting and isn't this stupidly irresponsible with dogs in real life.. but I know a ton of people irl and online that thinks their dogs running loose and fighting is cool and badass
