Re: Ginga: The Last Wars in Finnish
While this is definitely good (if not entirely unexpected news), I'd like to point out that the way this "announcement" was made is hilarious. There's no mention of it on Sangatsu Manga's (the publishing company) official website and at the moment the only official references to it are these two posts from a Finnish Ginga forum, made by managing editor Antti Valkama. For your convenience I've translated them into English here:

Oh look, we just got the contracts signed for Last Wars.

We've at least got the legal rights for [translating TLW into Finnish] now. As long as the Japanese don't suddenly get furious and swear blood vengeance against us it should be starting in May 2019.

Awesome, you guys are so lucky!
Is there anything else that is yet to be translated? I wonder if you'll get the First Wars.

I think it's Lassie, Shiroi Senshi Yamato, Boku No inu Boku No Weed, and Takahashi Yoshihiro No Inu To Kurashitai that's left.
Other then them, I think it could be Survival on Solitary Island and perhaps Otoko No Tabidachi.
It's awsome that Finalnd gonan ger GTLW translated!! ^^

Re: Ginga: The Last Wars in Finnish
As far as dog series go, there's at least Lassie and Shiroi Senshi Yamato. I assume the latter hasn't been localized (at least yet) due to its sheer length and possibly due its focus on dog fighting - maybe Byakuren no Fang was translated to test the waters and see if a manga about dog fighting would sell in the West? Who knows
tbh I kinda hope First Wars chapters are included as bonuses in the Finnish TLW volumes, since they're so short and technically the two tie in together (even though TFW is more of a prequel to GDWO, despite the name). However it's probably more likely we'll just have to wait until there's enough TFW to fill out a compilation volume that can be published separately.

Fitting TFW at the end of each TLW volume would be a cool idea. It would be nice to see them do that.

Namonaki Inu no Uta is also not translated but it should include something.

True. That is a short story, that easy could be at the end of a volume of some sort. I was more listing the manga that had at least 1 volume of it's own. ^^Aram wrote: ↑Tue Oct 30, 2018 8:28 amNamonaki Inu no Uta is also not translated but it should include something.

The problem with Namonaki is that is published by Shueisha and all series that are owned by them are already translated (except for Yamato). So they can't add it anywhere.Tora wrote: ↑Tue Oct 30, 2018 10:36 amTrue. That is a short story, that easy could be at the end of a volume of some sort. More or less same covers. As "The Last Wars" is spelled in Romaji. ^^Aram wrote: ↑Fri Apr 05, 2019 9:22 am Sneak peak Finnish covers of Last Wars at the end of Orion 30.

I like the black spine! Different from how the others are white. ^^

It seems that the translation has canonized one of the most enduring Ginga memes in the Finnish fandom.
I... definitely didn't see that coming.
