Kotou no Boukensha - Survival in the Solitary Island
Kotou no Boukensha (subhead is in English; Survival in the Solitary Island) is a manga series by Yoshihiro Takashashi, published in 1995-1996. The plot is basically the same as in other manga series by Takahashi, Otoko no Tabidachi: two boys try to stay alive and find their way back to civilization, after surviving from shipwreck in a storm.
Where Otoko no Tabidachi was six volumes long and had all kinds of oddities (like dinosaurs), Kotou no Boukensha is only three volumes long, and takes more realistic way. It even has very detailed info of how to build traps, make fire, build oven, build blowgun and it's ammo. I think these might even work in real life!
And, because it's Takahashi's manga, there has to be dogs in it! Byakuren no Fang -stylish this time.
I just got this series in the mail, so I was inspired to start a topic for it.

I am in the process of translating this. Chapter 1 is almost done, and I'll be posting it tomorrow as a teaser.
Also, this series should be called "MASARU IS A WHINY BRAT."

So, now that the first volume's been translated, what do people think?
And we have another Blue in the Takahashi's work now, who's a husky dog apperantly ^^

I really like this series, the more realistic, mature and calmer tone is a nice change of pace for Takahashi works.
