I wanted to chat a bit about aka! he is riki's first son .. and he seems to totally forget! the line of the riki family is recognized as almost legendary even before the birth of gin.I have always been really curious about this character. I wondered if I was the only one?
to pay tribute to him I decided to draw aka

Re: aka ginga nagareboshi gin
This is some great art you've made! I love seeing these kinds of AUs, and now that you mention it, seeing Gin interacting with his big brother isn't something that I've really thought about before, but I'd love to see more of now! It's sad that they really aren't mentioned aside from the first couple of chapters, and even Weed's siblings have been more explored. It's a really cool thought, Gin having a bearhound mentor traveling with him, someone who can relate to losing their father, but also being a mentor figure, like what's depicted in your second drawing. Aka and Don, who was unrelated I think, are sometimes mentioned mainly to refer to their deaths and maybe their relation to Riki, aside from when we bring in Anju to Jiromaru, and consider that the puppies in that story are related to the bearhound family, pinning any of Gin's siblings as their potential relations.
His name, Aka, is also interesting now that I consider it - such a short and to-the-point kind of title, unlike the big warrrior's names that other characters have taken on. Probably just because of him being a minor character. Still, it fits with Gin's name as being short and describing their coat colors, which is a neat little similarity between them. Shiro too, though there are sometimes changes made to his color depending on where you look.
Great job with these! If you expand the AU of Aka having survived the attack by Akakabuto, I'd be keeping an interested eye out!

Oh these are both nice (love the brindleing on Gin in the 2nd one!)...makes me think if Riki even had the time to stop to mourn Aka and Don.aisuloup wrote: ↑Wed Dec 29, 2021 3:31 pm I wanted to chat a bit about aka! he is riki's first son .. and he seems to totally forget! the line of the riki family is recognized as almost legendary even before the birth of gin.I have always been really curious about this character. Riki probably has a mountain of sons and daughters we will never know about. Not everyone can be a superstar after all. Truly fuel for fan characters
