Ginga Nagareboshi Gin’s inspiration

Post by seven »

Hi, fairly new to the forums here, so I apologize if a topic about this has already been made- or if this is common knowledge. :bon2:

I recently discovered “King Fang” or “Daisetsuzan no Yuusha Kibaou". It was a movie released in 1978. There is more info on the plot in this blog:
https://www.animationsource.org/ginga/e ... d_film=124
The link explains the synopsis of the anime pretty well, and you can definitely see the similarities between King Fang and Silver Fang. Overall pretty interesting to see where Yoshihiro got his inspiration from.

Takahashi mentioned this series in Boku no Inu, Boku no Weed. The manga version was the first animal comic he had read and it inspired him a lot.

The thing I'm surprised the most is that apparently there are subs for it according to anidb, but I dunno if that's true at all or if these subs are somehow searchable anywhere. But thank goodness it has raws out there, at least.

Manga and/or anime
I have the manga and anime film on VHS. I love the manga style! Here is the search term for YJA if anyone is interested in adding the mother of Ginga to their collection (other books come up with it but this set appears fairly frequently.)

You can watch a fan dubbed version of the anime film here.

Arano (and everybody else): Is the score found in the dubbed version of King Fang,
added by Ginga fans - seeing as it's the same as in GNG - or did GNG actually reuse
not only large parts of the plot, but the specific music too?

I did all the editing on King Fang. I used soundtracks from Mobile Suit Gundam and GNG as only 1 or 2 tracks from the King Fang soundtrack are available. I used them to keep that 70s,/80s anime music aesthetic.
Done.

I have the King Fang soundtrack on vinyl... I'm meaning to tap my friend up to see if he can record it and my GNG vinyls. If I manage it, you are welcome to update your dub with it should you wish to.

I'll have to check and see if I have the SFXed/vocal file without music, but that would be great!
Done.
